Neveah's Story:Nevaeh is a 9-year-old girl who suffers with quadriplegic cerebral palsy and epilepsy. At 3-months-old, her parents noticed that she was having difficulties lifting her head and seemed overly stiff and fussy. Doctors started testing and eventually gave her an initial diagnosis of cerebral palsy.
As Nevaeh grew older, many other behaviors started to appear. She started to suffer very high anxiety, which would most often lead to seizures. It didn’t take long for the seizures to increase in number, and around age two Nevaeh was diagnosed with another disorder, status epilepticus. Status epilepticus is a severe form of epilepsy that means the seizures are frequent and very dangerous. On a regular day, sweet Nevaeh can experience 100 seizures.
Along with these two major conditions, Nevaeh also struggles with sleep apnea, and she is extremely prone to pneumonia due to a tampered immune system. A common cold for this precious girl often times means a month in ICU.
Just at the tender age of 9, Nevaeh has already undergone a list of medical treatments. She has had a double hip surgery, has had feeding tubes installed, major saliva glands, adenoids and tonsils removed, a VNS surgery to reduce seizures, and many more. The list of surgeries and treatments will continue on into her future.
Each day her family works hard to supply their sweet little girl with the therapy, support, and love she requires and deserves. For them, Nevaeh is truly what her name is spelled backwards… Heaven!
Nevaeh has come into this world with many challenges she must face, but she faces them with a tender and beautiful smile on her face. She is a sweet little girl who loves music, cartoons, family time, her dogs, and her big sister.
Nevaeh will be adopted as a Sparrow to Cascade Christian High School. Students at CCHS will work hard to raise money for Nevaeh through sponsored community service and fundraising projects.
