Henry is a beautiful two-month-old baby boy. Although he has only been in this world for a brief time, Henry is loved so much! Nurses call him ‘Henry the Snuggle Monster.’

nWhen Henry was just two days old, doctors noticed that his stomach didn’t appear to be working quite right.
n
nX-rays showed that that he had a perforated bowel. This means there were tiny holes in the walls of his intestines and waste was leaking into his body.

nDoctors needed to perform an emergency surgery to save his life. They created a stoma, or a small opening on the outside of his tiny body to allow waste to leave his body.

nHis intestines are being kept on the outside of his body until they have healed enough to be placed back inside Henry’s abdomen.

nHenry has spent all his days in the NICU at Doernbecher’s Children Hospital. Doctors are hoping to be able to do another surgery in November 2021 to place his intestines back inside his body once they are healthy enough.

nHenry’s family cannot wait until the day they can bring him home and introduce him to the rest of his family. They are waiting to love him and snuggle Henry at home.

nHenry will be adopted as a Sparrow to Beaumont Middle School. Students will work hard to raise money for Henry through sponsored community service.
