Vinny is an energetic 19-month old who is curious and never lets anything get him down. He loves music, nursery rhymes and toys that make loud noises.

nIn June of 2020, after two days of testing, Vinny was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

nVinny’s treatments started with intense chemotherapy through his bone marrow under sedation, along with chemo through his central line. However, after the third chemo treatment, it became clear the treatments were no longer working and doctors needed to switch gears.

nIn October 2020, it was decided Vinny would need a bone marrow transplant. This meant his body would need to be prepared to receive the transplant. He received 9 days radiation treatments and then 2 doses of lethal chemo before the transplant could be performed.

nFor now, it is a ‘wait and see’ game to be sure his body does not reject the transplant cells as doctors will monitor him closely for 100 days in the hospital.

nDespite all of this, Vinny is resilient and inspires others to stay strong. He stays busy watching Blues Clues, Frozen and Moana as he waits out his stay in the hospital.

nVinny will be adopted as a Sparrow to Hillsboro High School. Students will work hard to not only love and support him but also raise money for Vinny through sponsored community service and fundraising.
