Ryan is 15 years old and is currently completing his High School education through the Medford Online School. He enjoys cooking, playing video games, being social, and most of all getting Dutch Bros coffee with his older sister, Marissa.

On July 28, 2022, Ryan was diagnosed with an extremely rare kind of leukemia called Philadelphia Chromosome-positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia (PH+ALL).

Ryan has an added challenge in the fact that he had one of his kidneys removed when he was 9 months old.

Ryan’s treatments thus far have included steroids, daily blood thinners, surgery to install a port, chemotherapy, lumbar punctures, and many blood transfusions. He may also need a bone marrow transplant.

Ryan will battle PH+ALL for the next three years and will continue to travel to Portland often for close monitoring.

According to Ryan, this has been the scariest thing he has ever faced, but he keeps his focus on making others happy and making them laugh. He loves bringing joy to others and he is determined to win this battle and get back to being an active teenager soon.

Ryan will be adopted as the Sparrow at Cascade Christian School. Cascade students will work hard to earn money for Ryan through sponsored community service.
