Read Cydney's Story

Cydney is a bright young girl who attends Henley Elementary School. She loves music and the colors pink and turquoise.
n
nCydney was born with a rare condition called Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease. This disease is progressive and causes many medical challenges.
n
nOne of the main challenges that Cydney faces is very low muscle tone. This prevents her from being able to stand or walk on her own and requires the assistance of a wheelchair.
n
nDue to the progressive nature of her condition, Cydney is losing the function of her hands as well. This has been quite a loss to her personally due to the fact that she loves music and can no longer play the piano.
n
nCydney’s spine is also at risk and she is currently scheduled for treatment, possibly even surgery.
n
nCydney has many medical procedures, intense physical therapy, and doctor appointments. Even with all this, she remains positive and happy and is determined to always see the bright side.
n
nCydney is extremely intelligent and loves being a student. She is determined, brave, and such an encourager to others. Her positive outlook on life is certainly very contagious to those around her.
n
nCydney will be adopted as a Sparrow to Mazama High School. Mazama students will work hard to raise money for Cydney through sponsored community service.
