Meet Sabra

Read Sabra's Story

Sabra is a 4-year-old little girl who loves the movies Frozen, Encanto, and Moana. She also loves her siblings, especially her baby sister, Thia.

When Sabra was 2 years old, she was diagnosed with Rett syndrome. This condition caused her to regress in many ways and took away many of her body functions.

Sabra lost the function of her hands and can no longer eat on her own. She uses an eye gazing device (iPad) to help her communicate with others, and a wheelchair and walker to help her move around.

Sabra is enrolled in several therapies, including physical, occupational, speech, aqua, and horseback riding therapy (her favorite).

Rett syndrome makes Sabra vulnerable to seizures. Luckily, doctors have not seen much seizure activity, but she is still being monitored closely for them.

Sabra is still learning to communicate through her eye-gazing device and is determined to learn, as she loves to interact with others.

Sabra still has many medical unknowns, but she continues to amaze her parents with how sweet and happy she always is. She brings so much joy to the world around her.

Sabra will be adopted as the very first Sparrow for Winchester Elementary School. Winchester Students will work hard to earn money for Sabra through sponsored community service.
