Aeriana is a sweet 6-year-old little girl who enjoys arts and crafts. She is very inquisitive and highly intelligent and loves movies that tell a great love story. Her family refers to her as an old soul.
In July of 2023, Aeriana was emergency airlifted to Portland after experiencing major pain throughout her body and losing the ability to walk.
While in Portland, doctors did a biopsy and discovered Aeriana had a type of cancer called B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-cell ALL).
B-cell ALL is a form of lymphoid leukemia in which too many B-cell lymphoblasts are found in the blood and bone marrow. This type of cancer required Aeriana to receive chemotherapy, targeted therapy, bispecific therapy, lumbar punctures, and blood and bone marrow transplants.
Aeriana was responding to treatments well until she developed a staph infection a month after being diagnosed. She was immediately placed in the PICU for aggressive treatment that lasted 24 hours. She was then sent home and had to be on antibiotics for 3 months. Once she recovered, she was able to continue with her cancer treatments.
Aeriana is currently in remission, but still receiving treatments through the maintenance phase. She will continue to see doctors and medical care for at least the next 2 years.
This has been a long and scary journey for such a young person to go through. However, Aeriana has shown how brave she is and has even been inspired by all the medical professionals. One of her favorite people has become nurse Genene and she has inspired Aeriana to become one herself when she grows up.
Aeriana will be adopted as the Sparrow to Lost River Jr/Sr High School. Lost River students will work hard to earn money for Aeriana through sponsored community service.
