Read Ervin's Story

Ervin is a 12-year-old boy who misses being with his friends so much. He loves Marvel comics and playing soccer.
n
nIn the fall of 2020 Ervin became extremely ill. He had difficulty breathing and his eyes were swollen. At first doctors couldn’t figure out what was wrong.
n
nAfter repeated trips to the hospital, and multiple tests, doctors diagnosed Ervin with a rare condition called Hemophagocytic Lymphoshistiocytosis (HLH). This is a rare blood disorder that acts much like Leukemia.
n
nHis chemotherapy treatments started immediately. However, after multiple rounds of chemo, Ervin relapsed.
n
nIn the Spring of 2021, doctors knew that Ervin would need a bone marrow transplant to live. Luckily, his sister was a match. Ervin’s sister was able to save his life by giving her bone marrow to him. The bone marrow transplant was successful, but he has spent months in the hospital recovering.
n
nErvin’s journey isn’t over, as he will continue to be closely monitored to ensure his body does not reject the bone marrow transplant.
n
nErvin will be adopted as a Sparrow to Forest Grove High School. Students will work hard to raise money for Ervin through sponsored community service.
