Gigi is a spunky three-year-old who is often referred to as the life of the party! She loves to play with Barbies, dolls, and bake cookies and cupcakes. Gigi loves being outside and her favorite place in the world is the beach!
n
nIn April of 2020, Gigi developed an ear infection that never really healed after a few weeks. After she became pale and wasn’t really walking her parents knew something else had to be wrong.
n
nIt didn’t take long for doctors to discover that Gigi needed a blood transfusion. She was immediately transferred to Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. Her parents were devastated to learn she had B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.
n
nGigi’s journey began with a series of blood transfusions, doctors placing a PICC line, lumbar punctures, a bone marrow biopsy, and 28 days of steroids.
n
nGigi has had multiple rounds of chemotherapy and with that comes many side effects. Her treatments will continue until June of 2022
n
nDespite all the pain and struggles with side effects from the treatments, Gigi continues to put a smile on the faces of those around her by making them laugh. She is an inspiration to everyone!
n
nGigi will be adopted as a Sparrow to Aumsville Elementary School. Students will work hard to raise money for Gigi through sponsored community service.
