Elias is a happy, smiley, and playful 2-year-old who loves snuggling with his parents. He also loves listening to classical music and likes watching Bob the Builder.

Elias was born three and a half months premature and weighed only 1 pound 14 ounces.

At just 5 days old, Elias developed an infection in his brain and spinal cord called meningitis. Days later, he was also diagnosed with hydrocephalus, which means he had extra fluid in his brain.

Elias had his first brain surgery when he was 2 months old. Shortly after, he had a second surgery in which doctors drilled a small hole in his brain to help drain the extra fluid. This made a big difference for him!

Elias uses a walker and wears special braces on his feet and legs to help him walk and stand. He works hard in therapy every week to make his body and mind stronger.

Elias likes to eat, but his diet is very limited due to several food allergies. He takes many supplements every day, including a very expensive nutritional drink.

Despite a tough start to life, Elias doesn’t let anything slow him down! He continues to make progress with his development and brightens the day of everyone he meets with his sweet and joyful personality

Elias will be adopted as a Sparrow to Cascades Academy in Bend. Students will work hard to earn money for Elias through sponsored community service, supporting him and cheering him on as he and his family continue to navigate his medical journey.
