Read Teagan's Story

Teagan is a sweet and very caring 8-year-old girl who attends Hillside Elementary School. She is known for being very strong-willed but also easygoing. She loves to live life to the fullest and will spend time camping, playing in lakes, and being adventurous. She is determined to not allow anything to ever hold her back from accomplishing her dreams.

Teagan was born with mild spastic diplegia cerebral palsy. This condition affects her legs and causes her to rely on hand crutches, walkers, and a wheelchair.

This condition has also affected Teagan cognitively, by making it challenging to learn new things and has also delayed her speech. However, she is enrolled in a special education program that has been helping her immensely.

During the summer of 2023, Teagan had a selective dorsal rhizotomy surgery done at Shriners Children’s Hospital. This surgery is a spinal operation that can permanently reduce leg spasticity and encourage independent walking.

After the surgery, Teagan stayed in Portland for one month undergoing physical therapy.

Teagan will continue to have many trips to Portland for numerous follow-up appointments and therapies.

Even with these medical challenges, Teagan chooses to stay positive every day. She loves to help her mom around the house and loves making people smile.

Teagan will be adopted as the Sparrow to Eagle Point High School. EPHS students will work hard to earn money for Teagan through sponsored community service.
