Mozlee's Story:
Little Mozlee was born on April 28, 2013, becoming the fourth member, and only son to a loving family. During the next two years Mozlee and his family grew more in love with each other, his father even refers to him as “his best friend.”

Around the age of two, Mozlee’s parents were alarmed with some physical changes in their toddler. He slowly started losing his color and eventually turned a yellowish shade. They also noticed a very distinct odor coming from his nose, and often times he would wake up feeling very dizzy.

Concerned, they took their child to an ear, nose, and throat doctor. From there he was referred to specialists, where blood work was done and sent to Portland. The results from the blood test were so alarming doctors requested another test be administered. Once the second test results came through Mozlee’s situation turned into a medical emergency. He and his family were immediately placed on a Mercy Flight at 3am to Randall’s Children’s Hospital, where more tests were done. After a heart-wrenching three-day wait, a diagnosis was given. Precious little Mozlee was diagnosed with the bone marrow cancer known as, Leukemia.

Leukemia is a cancer that starts in the tissue as an abnormality in the white blood cells. Eventually, if left untreated these unhealthy white blood cells take over all the healthy cells. Early detection and treatment are extremely important. Thankfully, this has been the case for this precious little boy.

Mozlee spent twenty-eight days at Randall’s receiving chemotherapy, various antibodies, and numerous surgeries including a chemo port implant.

Mozlee now travels, once-a-month, to Portland to undergo various treatments, and therapy, as well as undergoing a lumbar puncture every 12 weeks.

This sweet three-year-old has been faced with some incredible health challenges, but he remains the sweet child he has always been. Mozlee loves dinosaur’s, making art, his pets, and or course his little brother and big sissy. He is a very smart, funny, and loving little boy.

Mozlee will be adopted as a Sparrow to Prospect Charter School. Students at Prospect will work hard to raise money for sweet Mozlee through sponsored community service and fundraising projects.
