Miro is an artistic, driven little 4 year old boy. As Miro grew, his parents noticed that Miro wasn’t reaching the milestones that he should have been. Miro wasn’t crawling and was delayed overall. They decided to get some evaluation done on Miro.
Miro was monitored twice a month for six months by physical therapy doctors and even taken to a neurologist in Portland. At just over 2 years old, doctors diagnosed Miro with Cerebral Palsy, but with the type of Cerebral Palsy to yet be determined. Along with the Cerebral Palsy, he was also diagnosed with Hypotonia, which means very low muscle tone. Miro’s parents were crushed, but somewhat relieved to know what was the cause of Miro’s developmental delay.
Now, Miro has a very busy schedule. From physical, occupational, and speech therapy all once a week to school on Tuesday and Thursday Miro’s dad, Brandon, was forced to quit his job. On top of that, the insurance company does not cover all the therapy that Miro needs and his parents notice that there is a plummet is Miro’s development when he is not recieving the therapy he needs.
Although Miro’s life has been a difficult one, he is a fun, loving little boy that loves playing the drums, dancing and going to swim lessons. He has not let any complications get in his way of being happy and his parents love and support him every step of the way.
Sparrow Cash raised for Miro will help with ongoing physical, occupational and speech therapies, as well as, special equipment for Miro to use to help him get stronger and have better balance. Students will “earn” Sparrow Cash completing a minimum of 256 hours of sponsored community service.
