Mason's Story:
Mason at the age of 7 was diagnosed with an inoperable optical nerve (pilocytic astrocytoma) brain tumor in June of 2012. Mason’s tumor causes hydrocephalus (fluid on the brain) and he has two shunts in his brain to control his hydrocephalus by diverting his cerebral spinal fluid to his abdomen. Mason has under gone 3 different chemotherapy treatments which have not been successful at stopping his tumor from growing. Since, September 2015 Mason has had 14 brain surgeries related to hydrocephalus due to shunt malfunctions and is currently experiencing brain trauma symptoms related to short term memory problems. We are hopeful a new chemotherapy treatment will be available for Mason in November 2016 and proton radiation treatment is also being considered.

Mason is currently 11 years old.
