Judy's Story:
Judy was born on the 28th of September in 2010 to a loving Egyptian family. She lives with her mother, father, and five-year-old brother in Gresham, Oregon. Both before and since her birth, Judy has encountered multiple medical problems regarding improper brain development. Despite her many challenges, Judy is a happy, sociable, and smart little girl who is overcoming obstacles every day and has almost reached the same level of progress as other little girls her age. She is now able to eat on her own, drink on her own, talk, and crawl. Judy enjoys reading books with her family and watching her favorite shows, Barney and Dora the Explorer. She loves Egyptian food and music. Her other favorite foods are chips and cheese puffs. Judy loves listening to and playing with guitars.

Judy’s life is a miracle and her family finds strength through prayer and the help of the medical teams at OHSU. We know that her family will appreciate you, the students of Tigard High, who give their time and love to help their family.

Judy’s Medical Condition: On her mother’s fifth month of pregnancy it was noticed that Judy’s brain was not following the typical course of development. As a result, Judy is now dependent on a gastrostomy tube and suffers from Oropharyngeal Dysphagia (swallowing disorder) and GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease) a chronic digestive disease. Judy also suffers from developmental delay, congenital anomalies, diabetes insipidus, scoliosis and potentially Hartsfield Syndrome. Judy is currently treated at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital of OHSU.

Judy’s Financial Needs/Status: Judy’s family really needs our help. Her father is employed, but their need is great. Her mother recently completed an undergraduate degree in social work and is also currently taking courses in English. As a result of Judy’s condition and expenses, things like furniture and car repairs have been sacrificed to support the needs of Judy and her brother.

Other family needs: Judy’s family is in need of various car safety repairs such as car seats, new tires, new brakes, and miscellaneous other repairs. The Saleh household is also in need of new furniture and clothes, as well as other necessities like clothing, diapers, various baby needs, school supplies and toys. Both Judy and her five-year-old brother are in need of clothing.
