Tyler's Story:
(12/17/08) One might find it hard to meet a six-year-old who is friendlier than Tyler Kuhn. His warm personality shines through despite the many hardships he has endured in his young life. Tyler was born with bilateral clubfeet, causing him to need a wheelchair to this day. At just six weeks old, Tyler underwent extensive reconstructive jaw surgery due to micrognathia (an abnormally small lower jaw), and also had surgery to lengthen the tendons in his knees, due to arthrogryposis. Tyler has also been diagnosed with cerebral palsy, bilateral hip displacement, and dysphagia (difficulty in swallowing). Students at Kennedy Elementary will be adopting Tyler as their "Sparrow," completing community service on his behalf in order to raise money to help pay for uncovered medical expenses and equipment, and to help with general living expenses.
