Hi my name is Sapphire Ruelle I am a four year old fun-loving girl who has battled Leukemia. on Monday, September 17, 2012, I was suddenly, and unexpectedly diagnosed with Leukemia. Two days later the cancer was further characterized as: Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.
A couple of weeks prior, my parents (Summar and Pascal Ruelle) started noticing some bruising on me. I like to play a lot you can find me on the scooter, on the bike, climbing up and down the slides….so my Mom and Dad just thought that was where the bruises were from. As the time went on, it appeared that my bruises were getting worse and worse, there were more of them popping up everywhere. I also started to need my mommy to carry me around at home. I started getting really bad fevers too.
Soon my parents took me to the doctors hoping I would just get a simple diagnosis. As soon as the doctor head about my symptoms they took me to a specialist who ended up giving me my diagnosis.
These days I am getting better all the time! I have fought my battle and now I am helping my mom fight her battle with stage four breast cancer. Even though times are hard we still like to have a lot of fun at my house! I love playing with my brother (Jayden) and parents. We play games, build things and love music! This year Santa brought me and my brother both key boards. I also love playing with my two dogs and bird Lola!
Money raised will go to help my family with everyday expenses like food, clothes, rent and utilities. With frequent trips to the doctor’s office for both me and my mom, it is difficult for my parents to work. Despite all the setbacks, though, my family remains positive.
Thank you Beaverton High School for all your work and dedication to our cause!
