David is a 16-year-old young man who attends Eagle Point High. He is in his junior year and excels on the EPHS soccer and wrestling teams. He loves spending time with his friends, working on his fitness goals, and deeply values his tight knit family.
On September 24, 2025, during a mid-week soccer practice, David started feeling extremely ill and complained of an excruciating headache. David’s soccer coach called his family and paramedics. After arriving to the scene, paramedics rushed David to the hospital.
While at the hospital, the neurosurgeon informed David’s parents that he had suffered a life-threatening AVM aneurysm, and he would require emergency brain surgery to save his life.
The surgery was successful and stabilized David enough to be moved to Portland where he could receive the best recovery care from a neuro team.
Once David arrived in Portland, his family was met with more devastating news. The initial MRI indicated that David had suffered not one, but two brain aneurysms and would require another surgery in three weeks, after he had some time to heal.
Three weeks later, David had a 12-hour brain surgery. It was successful once again. However, doctors prepared his family for the worst, saying that he would lose his mobility, speech, and may not ever be the person he once was.
Beginning early November, David started his road to recovery with physical, occupational, and speech therapies at Randall Children’s Hospital. Already, he has beaten all the odds and shows encouraging signs that he may eventually have a full recovery. Although this will take time and much effort, David is determined to regain his life.
David will be adopted as the Sparrow to Eagle Point High School. EPHS students will work hard to earn money for David through sponsored community service.
