Meet Lilly! She’s 15 years old, and her family describes her as an adrenaline junkie and diva who loves watching wrestling and UFC fights. She’s also a fan of Disney villains like Ursula, 90s rap music, and her favorite color is purple.
Lilly was diagnosed with Rett Syndrome after missing some developmental milestones as a baby and losing some of the skills she had already acquired.
As a 13-month-old, Lilly had started talking, but after her mom returned from a short trip, she was no longer able to speak.
By 18 months old, Lilly was able to walk and crawl, but she later lost those skills and received her first wheelchair when she was two years old.
When Lilly was three years old, she eventually lost her ability to swallow, and a G-tube (feeding tube) was placed so she could receive her nutrition directly into her stomach.
Lilly has required multiple life flights to Portland due to seizures, and she takes four different medications to help manage her seizure activity.
Lilly has some amazing equipment that helps her in different ways, including a Trexo machine that assists her with walking and an eye gaze device that helps her communicate.
In addition to experiencing seizures, Lilly has had multiple surgeries, she attends therapies weekly, and she takes medications twice a day.
Lilly will be adopted as a Sparrow to Redmond High School. Students will work hard to earn money for Lilly through sponsored community service, supporting her and cheering her on as she and her family continue to navigate her medical journey.
