Wesley's Story:Wesley is a shy but fun-loving six-year old who is caring and strong. He loves Minecraft, Mario, Pokémon and dinosaurs.
In June of 2017 Wesley was officially diagnosed with Philadelphia Chromosome Positive Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. This meant his cancer cells were mutated and the regular treatment protocol wouldn’t work. Wesley had to be on a high- risk protocol.
Wesley’s treatments started immediately with daily oral chemotherapy and intense inpatient IV chemotherapy every couple of weeks. He received treatment like that for over a year and a half and spent over 200 days in the hospital.
However, in August of 2020, Wesley’s cancer returned and this time he would need a bone marrow transplant. His little brother Wyatt was a match and the process began.
Wesley was admitted to Doernbecher on November 16 and his little body was prepped with total body radiation and chemotherapy. Then he received the bone marrow transplant. He will be carefully watched to ensure his body does not reject the transplant.
Despite all of this, Wesley is a warrior who loves to play and joke around. He loves unicorns and rainbow colors. His favorite foods are chicken nuggets, peanut butter waffles, root beer and Sour Patch Kids.
Wesley will be adopted as a Sparrow to LaSalle Preparatory School. Students will work hard to not only love and support him but also raise money for Wesley through sponsored community service.
