Maryalice's Story:Maryalice is an 8-year-old little girl who is in 3rd grade at Mae Richardson Elementary School.
When Maryalice was 18-months-old, she was diagnosed with a rare condition called “Ollier’s Disease.”
This condition causes Maryalice’s bones to grow cartilage tumors throughout her skeletal system and affects her hands, feet, ribs, and the long bones in her body.
Maryalice’s bones break easily, and she often has swollen and aching limbs due to her condition.
In January 2022, Maryalice had a 10-hour surgery that realigned her right leg. The surgery also includes several trips back to Washington and at least 6 weeks of recovery.
Maryalice is a very brave and determined little girl. She has faced so much adversity at such a young age but continues to prove that she is a fighter.
Ollier’s Disease affects only one in every 100,000 people. The fact that it is so rare has created many challenges in finding the correct expert care for Maryalice.
Maryalice is a very happy person who is kind to everyone. She loves being with her family, making art, and playing with her pets.
Maryalice will be adopted as a Sparrow to McLoughlin Middle School. MAC Students will work hard to raise money for Maryalice through sponsored community service.
