Brooklin's Story:Brooklyn's illness began with a migraine on 12/8/16. Over the next 3 days, she was taken to Urgent Care and the Hospital several times. They only said it was a migraine. She never had any relief from the pain.
On 12/12/16, her face & body on the right side became paralyzed. She was taken by ambulance to another hospital where she was diagnosed and treated for a stroke. She had more strokes and was finally transferred to Peyton Manning Children's Hospital where she was found to have multiple infarcts in the front and back of her brain. She continued with migraines with no relief. Doctors did lumbar puncture and they drained 37 ml from her spinal cord daily. Now she has a brain shunt. She spent 31 days in the hospital. She is on high doses of steroids to help with the swelling. The family does not know if the strokes will return. They pray that the worst is over.
Brooklyn likes to play her guitar, ride her bike, draw, youth group, volleyball and basketball. She enjoys listening to Christian and Country music.
