Daxton's Story:
Daxton was born December 9, 1998. At 5 days old Daxton started having Grandmal seisures. He spent 2 weeks at Primary Children’s Hospital where he was diagnosed with spinal meningitis caused by parvo infection. At 10 months, Daxton was given an MRI which showed he had suffered brain damage down his midline. The midline affects all physical development, but not mental development. His last diagnosis was “CP” or Cerebral Palsy.  Daxton was very late in developing and never did most of everything you would expect a baby or toddler to do. He could not hold his own bottle, roll over, sit up, crawl or walk. He started early intervention for therapy at 3 years old and continues therapy to this day. Daxton had a surgery in November of 2009 to have his adductors lengthened and his feet fused. He has made great strides since surgery with his therapy. Now Daxton can walk with a walker for 30 minutes! He has a great Aid for the last 2 years that has helped him achieve such amazing progress! Daxton loves to accomplish his goals. In the summer of 2010 Daxton went to a great camp for kids with disabilities called Camp Attitude! Camp is a place where Daxton can do everything like anyone else. He swings, races, rides in hot air balloons, boats, jet skis, plays laser tag, goes horseback riding, river rafting, and does crafts. Daxton is so happy at Camp!
