Aiden's Story:
(12.6.11) Aiden is the beautiful, first born baby boy of Ashley and C.D. He came into this world healthy and happy on March 30, 2011. At the time, his parents had no reasons to be concerned about anything and were enjoying their new little bundle of joy. When Aiden was two months old, his parents took him in for his regular well baby check at the doctor's office. As the doctor was feeling his stomach, he said that something didn't feel right and he wanted Aiden to have some tests done. The family went to the hospital in Redmond where an ultrasound was performed and it was discovered that his liver was enlarged. Over the course of the next few days, Aiden's tummy continued to grow and grow. He was taken back to the ER where they performed another ultrasound and took x-rays. They discovered that his liver was so enlarged now that it was pushing up on his lungs, making it difficult for him to breathe. Ashley and C.D. decided to get a second opinion and took Aiden to a physician in Bend. He was examined and immediately life flighted to Doernbecher's Children's Hospital in Portland. After numerous tests were done they had a diagnosis: a form of cancer called Neuroblastoma. Aiden began chemotherapy immediately on June 10th, 2011. He was supposed to have only three rounds of chemo but an MRI showed that the tumors had not shrunk as much as the doctors had hoped. He began another round of chemo in July and currently awaits results to see what will happen next. Sparrow cash raised for Aiden will help the family with ongoing medical expenses, travel costs and everyday living expenses.
