Ryann's Story:
Ryann was born with multi-suture craniosynostosis (clover-leaf syndrome) and has been given an umbrella diagnosis of hypotonic CP. She has severe, global developmental delays, but works very hard every day to come up with her own unique ways of overcoming her limitations. In her early days, and until recently, she had to endure a number of cranial operations to correct the fusing of her skull plates. Most children are born with very flexible skulls but Ryann's was fully hardened when she was born. The operations were done to save her life, and to allow for growth of her brain. Today she is a happy, active 7 year old with an engaging personality that brings smiles to others. She has a way of warming your heart with her smiles and laughter. She is a constant reminder to enjoy the simple things in life and without words expresses true love and simplicity. Ryann loves the water and to be outside as much as she can! These are two of her very favorite things! Her mobility issues are becoming a greater strain on her parents as she gets bigger. She currently is being transported by hand in and out of her parent's vehicle, and she will soon need a wheel chair van as well as other devices that can help with moving her around.
