Jazmin's Story:(4.1.09) Jazmin is a beautiful 10-year-old girl who has faced many struggles since the day she was born. Diagnosed with cerebral palsy, Jazmin has some difficulty doing things that many people may take for granted. She sometimes experiences severe hip pain, which often brings her to tears and makes it very difficult to walk or run. Jazmin has also been diagnosed with a seizure disorder and very severe asthma, the latter of which keeps her from spending a lot of time outdoors. Due to an articulation disorder associated with cerebral palsy, Jazmin has a hard time writing, doing homework, or doing repetitive tasks for extended periods of time. Her therapists and doctors have suggested that she get a laptop computer to help with her education. They also suggest that Jazmin be involved with an activity, such as swimming, in order to help further develop her coordination. In spite of these difficulties, Jazmin has a very positive "can do" attitude and refuses to feel sorry for herself. She is a determined little girl who will not let her physical struggles keep her from enjoying her life! Students at Henley High School, in Klamath Falls, will work hard to raise money for Jazmin and her family by completing hours of community service to others on her behalf. Seed money raised by students will be sponsored by Premier West Bank.
