Ethan's Story:(10/21/09) In July of 2009, Ethan Jostad, a happy-go-lucky, energetic 7-year-old, told his mom and dad that his chest was hurting. Two weeks later, after many days in the hospital and too many tests to count, Ethan was diagnosed with a rare, aggressive form of cancer called Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma. Doctors found a large tumor in Ethan's chest very close to his heart and lungs. Ethan's cancer is currently at Stave IV, but Ethan is fighting hard and is determined to beat this. He is on a year-long treatment plan that consists of strong chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery. Ethan and his family will be making monthly (and sometimes weekly) trips to Doernbecher Children's Hospital in Portland and may be treated by specialists at a hospital in New York in the future. Make no mistake about it, Ethan is a fighter and is proving to be an inspiration to all of those that have the privilege of meeting him.
