Corey is a sweet young man with a handsome smile. He loves to spend his time playing with his Legos and building random things out of them. He loves games of all sorts from video games to board games to card games. He enjoys drawing and like to make pictures using crayons or colored pencils. To look at him, you would never know he has anything going on.
At 4 ½ years old, Corey began having seizures. During the summer of 2003, he spent 5 days in the ICU at the local hospital as doctors tried to determine what was causing them. All scans were normal but he did have abnormal activity in his right temporal lobe. Corey was diagnosed with Epilepsy and started on anti-seizure medication.
Over the course of the past 9 years, he has had 10-12 significant falls resulting from his seizures. He fell so hard that he has caused injuries to his head and brain. He had a pretty significant fall a couple of years ago that left him with a traumatic brain injury. The cumulative effects of these falls has left Corey with various processing issues. Corey still suffers seizures at least once a week usually at night. He cannot get sick as illness seems to make his seizures worse.
Sparrow cash raised for Corey will help to pay for medications and a tutoring program to help him with his math and reading skills.
