Alyssa is an incredibly adorable little 11 year old girl.
At about 18 months of age, Alyssa’s left eye started turning in. Upon taking her to the doctor it was determined that she had a Benign Optic Nerve Glioma. She was on and off Chemotherapy for several years.
At about 6 years of age, while she was undergoing chemotherapy for the Glioma, doctors found a Supratentorial Primative Neuro-ectodermal tumor (sPNET) which can simply be characterized as a brain tumor. She underwent high doses of radiation and chemotherapy for the sPNET until about 2008.
The cancer went into remission for almost four years. In December of 2012, it was determined that she had yet another PNET. Recurring PNET cases generally do not turn out well. Currently she is going through even more chemotherapy in hopes of beating this one as well. She no longer has vision in her left eye nor hearing in her left ear. To make matters worse, Alyssa’s father was recently diagnosed with a tumor of his own.
Despite all of this, Alyssa and her family remains positive. Alyssa adores her entire family, her mother Melissa and father Jeremy as well as her twin sister Ajalae and her younger sisters Meridian and Roeyn. Alyssa, who commonly goes by Aly, loves art, music and animals (especially cats). Her frequent appointments as well as her father’s condition make it nearly impossible for her parents to work. Sparrow Cash that is raised will go to help the family with basic needs such as clothes, food and rent.
