How you can help the Sparrow Project to be successful?

We’d like to include your child’s story on the “Meet our Sparrows” page. We encourage our families to provide the initial written content for your child’s page, including a scenario regarding their medical situation, with updates whenever possible. Your contact information will not be included unless you want it there. If your child has e-mail or an address where kids can write or a phone to call, we welcome you to provide that to post.

Let us know up front how much club interaction you are comfortable with. We hope that, if you and your child are able, you can meet with your club in person at least once. However, the amount of contact that you have with the club is entirely based on your discretion.

The photos that you provide to Sparrow Clubs at the initial meeting maybe used by both the organization and the club, mainly for publicity, fundraising, or in-school communication plans. Remembering their Sparrow as a real person puts the passion into their efforts.

The club will be thinking of types of community service to perform. Depending on their age, the most rewarding for them may be to serve their own Sparrow’s family in some practical way. Can you think of something that would be helpful? Are you going away to the hospital? Do you need your lawn mowed, pets cared for, mail checked, house cleaned, meals made? Driveway shoveled? If you can think of anything, let them know or let the Sparrow organization’s Program Manager or Director know.

Your club may ask to video interaction of them with your child. Please let us know up front if this is comfortable for you, or if it is physically impossible for your child.

Share with the club what your child likes. What toys, games, hobbies, or activities, interest him or her? Will there be an e-mail address at home or the hospital that they can write him/her at? If possible, let your club advisor or the Sparrow Clubs staff know of any hospital visits, times your family might be unreachable, or of any health updates or changes in your child.
