Each Sparrow Project involves three entities as shown above. Click here to watch video
1. A Sparrow is a classmate or any local child (17 or under) who is burdened with a compelling medical issue—one that also creates a financial need for the family. The family must complete a Sparrow Application that must also be approved by a social worker or physician.

2. A Sparrow Club is a group of young people, elementary through college-age students, that do community service and fundraising on behalf of their “adopted” sparrow. The club is usually school-based and typically will adopt a new child each school year. The club must Register Online and agree to Sparrow Project Guidelines. Each Club must have an adult volunteer or advisor (except college level)..

3. A Sponsor is any business, organization or individual that pledges money to provide Sparrow Cash and Program Services for the club and project. Clubs must "earn" the Sparrow Cash by volunteering community service hours and documenting them on service vouchers called Sparrow Checks. Clubs may also be self-sponsored and fundraise for their sparrow as community service.

Often, clubs go beyond initial service work and do additional fundraisers for their Sparrow, sometimes netting thousands of dollars. Families then access the designated monies as needed from the organization with a Check Request Form to help offset their medically-related expenses and to meet basic family needs.
