There is an old, old story; Of two thousand years ago. When the God of all creation; His great love for the world did show
It’s a story of passion and suffering, Of lasting joy through deep pain; It’s one that’s still being written Within hearts which bear His Name
The Bible is the storybook, One proven, tried and true; The Author is using His Word, His goal to change me and you
For God sent His own Son, Jesus, God Himself as man; To live among the human race; Shedding light on His good plan
But men loved living in darkness, Finding pleasure doing wrong more than right; They hated the thought of repentance; And proudly rejected the Light
Deservedly God could destroy them, Justly He could’ve condemned; But in love so amazingly gracious; Our relationship He still longed to mend
The evil that men had intended, God miraculously turned for the good; At a price no man has afforded; Such a cost no one’s understood
For God Who so deeply has loved us, Bore the pain of His crucified Son; Twas our sin that forever would part us, But through Jesus our redemption was won
With the cries of, “My God, my God Why hast Thou forsaken me?”; Jesus endured God’s wrath on the cross, When Himself He could have freed
To the Father He entrusted His Spirit, Not doubting His love or His power; He knew for Himself there’d be justice; But on mankind now mercy would shower
On the third day Christ rose to life again! First on earth, now in heaven enthroned; And He promised He’ll soon be returning, For those whom He calls His own
Now today is the day of salvation; This decision you must not delay; A free gift of life Christ now offers you, If you trust Him right now as you pray ...
“Dear God, I know I’m a sinner; Your forgiveness I do not deserve; But Jesus I trust You as Savior; Now You as my Lord I will serve.”
He gives you a new source of power; His Spirit in you He does send; Your life has new meaning and purpose; Building treasures which will never end |

And if you accept Christ as Savior, You will never be all alone; For Jesus won’t leave or forsake you, If your heart He has made as His home
But will He find us faithful and loyal, In the hard times as well as the good; At worst He’ll strengthen our character, So that we can live as we should
He gives us so many provisions, For the battles we must face; In prayer we simply must ask Him, For the strength to finish the race
His Word goes out before us, His promises are like beacons of hope; His Presence is ever so near us, Bringing peace when it’s hard to cope
His people are faithful companions, His hands and His feet who bear, Much of our heaviest burden, Sensing through them God’s deep care
And finally His good purpose will follow, For all to see when complete; We will marvel when all is unfolded We will cast our crowns at His feet!
Now to see our little one suffer, Is to know no greater pain; To feel the despair of helplessness, When his comfort we cannot sustain
Who knows our sense of desperation? Who deeply feels our plight? Who is there that understands With compassion and with might?
It was God that knew this before us; This same burden He did bear; Through Jesus He is acquainted With compassion; His own Son not spared
Oh how He longs just to hold us, To comfort and give us His rest; He whispers for us to understand, For our little one He wants only the best
For God offers much more than a shoulder, Where we can come and cry; He deeply wants us to trust Him, His goodness and faithfulness to try
Like a child who leans on his father, And rests in his arms of grace; Though sadness and fear may assail us, His peace comes as we seek His face
The weight of our own self-protection, Into His hands we abandon it all; To please the heart of our Father, By our faith in His arms we fall
Our pain will never be pointless, There’s no suffering without reason or rhyme; When to Jesus our lives are entrusted, We have hope that lasts beyond time!
